Printing History: Tom sketched this view of the Dawn Redwoods grove at UC Berkeley Botanical Garden to prepare an image for a Garden fundraiser. These Metasequoia trees were grown from seeds collected in China in the 1940s. The print is a multi-block woodcut in an edition of 188 printed on handmade Japanese Echizen kozo natural-colored paper, completed in October 2025. The first half of edition was sold by the Botanical Garden for its fundraiser. Numbers 99-188 have 2 more layers of reduction-cut printing on trunks and background foilage.
